You Tube Phenomenon, a Great Way to be Famous
82Actually the right title of this hub is “You Tube Phenomenon and The King of Streaming Media”. Actually I want to write this a long time ago, but I don't know I feel that this is the right time for me to share my thought about this unbelievable idea. I thought we all know and familiar with You Tube. You Tube is the biggest streaming media to give us chance to upload video online. What kind of video we can choose. We choose many categories, like: entertainment, news & politics, sports, science & technology, music, film & animation, Howto & Style, gaming, etc. You Tube can make a person who was nobody became famous in the virtual world, even in the real world. There are many more people who suddenly famous after uploading videos on You Tube. That’s why I called this a great way to be famous. I’ll tell to you about people who got fame after uploading their video through You Tube.
"Keong Racun" phenomenon in Indonesia
This also happen in my country, Indonesia. There are two young girls who popular because Lipsync video which uploaded on You Tube. They are Jojo (Jovita Adityasari) and Shinta (Sinta Nurian-syah). They using “keong racun” song (in English is “Poison Snail”) for their video. This video has been uploaded more than two millions until know and also invite the inspiration for many people. They are become new celebrities in Indonesia. Their story has been spread by television, newspaper and magazine. Their story became the main topic of the media as a new trend. Now, they hunted by netter, entertainment business, online and offline media. They got many interview by television and print media. I heard Jojo and Shinta get free scholarships from their college and made them as the icon. You can see the video of Jojo and Shinta below.
This video has been viewed two millions people
Become famous is like a big dream for many people. They will do anything to be a success and become a superstar. Actually Jojo and Shinta upload their video for fun. They never thought that their action on You Tube got many attentions by millions people, including me…hahaha. Many people talked about them. There is a good question from my friend. Do I become famous like them if I upload my video on You Tube? But above all, the most important factor is the luck factor. After all, there are hundreds (even more) lipsync videos on YouTube, it was uploaded by pretty girls. Even many of those who can sing with good voice. But if the luck factor in their hand, I believe they’ll become famous.
What it means for us............
Internet: Increasing creativity
Like Jojo and Shinta case, they give motivation to many people. They wouldn’t become new celebrities without internet technology and they combine with unique creativity. Normally, a singer has to pass various processes before they called the real singer. a singer will be famous after passing the selection, recording in the studio, supported by producers, sophisticated recording equipment, a large financial and so on. Actually Jojo and Shinta didn’t have sophisticated recording equipment, a complicated arrangement of light, a reliable cameraman. They only have a laptop camera, as was said in various media. With simple tool they recorded the songs and their actions. Singing in front of the laptop cameras and produce a video with duration around 5 minutes 14 seconds, it directly uploaded on You Tube. Actually the first purpose is for the private collection. But they have a great idea to put their video on You Tube.
Famous and hunted by media
What do we get from this action? I thought we all agree that we get fame, money and hunted by media. We can't deny about this effect. I have a question, Is this good effect or bad effect? If we want to be famous, I thought this is good effect. I can say that this is the result of fame. I know the success of Jojo and Shinta is not the first time, but good to remind us again about the story of Charice Pempego, Esmee Denters, Andy Mckee, Justin Bieber, Charlie the baby, Momoy palayboy. They become success and famous because of You Tube. I’ll share short story of them below. So, please continue to read………….
Esmee Denters
Esmee Denters is a singer and song writer. She starts to sing a cover version of famous songs on You Tube in 2006. She caught big attention of Jonathan Berhane as an artist manager from Netherlands. She is fluent in Dutch and English. Jonathan Berhane also the person who introduce her to Grammy-nominated songwriter. She got chances as the opening singer for Justin Timberlake European tour in 2007.
Marie Digby
Marie Digby is a singer, songs writer, pianist and guitarist. Wow.... from hers skill, she is a multitalented girl. She was known well at the first time when she recycled “Umbrella” song in acoustic version on You Tube, in 2007. Unexpectedly this song was played in the radio and this song also entered the ten billboard chart. Marie Digby has been released three albums, with seven single inside this album. I heard that she got 56 thousands comment from her video on You Tube. And then from her video on You Tube she is become famous entire the world.
Andy Mckee
Sometimes we search the video on You Tube to find something unique or to know others person skill. This also happen with Andy Mckee, as a Fingerstyle Guitarist from United States. I love his skill, from his skill he got millions fans from all over the world. At the end of 2006, “Drifting” as the major song of him became a future video on Youtube and Myspace. At this time he is under the "Candyrat Records” as his major label in US.

Shane Dawson
Shane Dawson also get the fame from webshow on You Tube. “SDTV” as television show also following him everywhere he goes, like: at home, working, even hang out with friends. He also made a short movie, where he played with different character, different races and also different gender. He hopes to become the "Next Big Thing" with millions subscribers around the world, I believe he is become something for others.
Justin Bieber
Who doesn’t know Justin Bieber? I thought we all know very well who Justin was, right. She is a very talented young boy from Canada who has skill in singing. As a pop singer who has been founded by Scooter Braun from You Tube. Right now, Scooter Broun became Justin manager. Justin known as the only one singer in music history with four single albums at top 40 before he was released his real album. “Baby” is the famous song from Justin. Until know she got more than one million follower in twitter. Justin Bieber as sixteen years old teenager got a platinum for the album My World in the U.S. and Canada.

Charice Pempengco
Charice Pempengco is teenager from Philippines. Charice as a rising star from Asia. Her careers jump so fast at the international level because the video was found by Ellen DeGeneres via You Tube. Because of her presence in Ellen’s Talk show at the end of December 2007, Charice was invited Oprah Winfrey and then promoted by David Foster. We all know the reputation of David Foster in music industry. Charice strolled as a singer of the world. He was only 18 years old, at that time Charice became the first Asian singer who entered the top 10 Billboard 200.
Momoy Palaboy
Both are popular figures in the virtual world because of Lypsinc video on You Tube. Two brothers who came from Philippines are also beginning just for fun. But after their Lypsinc video was uploaded in You Tube they have been seen by million people around the world. Right now, Momoy Palaboy then turned into a wealthy artist. I heard that their video has been viewed around 13 millions people. As a comedian artist, they are a lucky people and get fame from You Tube.
Charlie Bit My Finger-Again Video
In May 2007 Howard Davis was record his two sons Harry (3 years old) and Charlie (1 years old). Harry put his finger inside Charlie’s mouth. Two children's behavior was very funny, especially the words and Harry's face who felt pain and Charlie who laughed at the end of their video . Make this video increasingly adorable. Although it just 56 seconds, but then Howard has a great idea to put this video in You Tube. The result was unpredictable this video become a phenomenon on the virtual world. This video is currently viewed by around 216 million people. “Charlie Bit My Finger-Again” video was ranked the 3rd most viewed video on You Yube after “baby” by Justin Bieber (viewed 255 million people) and "Bad Romance" Lady Gaga (viewed 255 million people). From his son's popularity Horward not worry about the future cost of his children college.

There is good news, You Tube increases video time limit to 15 minutes. Before this news we only given about 10 minutes. Some people said that 10 minutes is too short. Because they want You Tube to be the best place to upload their video. You can explore your creativity to upload videos on You Tube along 15 minutes. The reason why You Tube extend their duration in longer time because You Tube developing copyright protection system. So you can be a little flexible in displaying the video on You Tube.
You want to be famous, why you don't try You Tube. I hope You Tube is a great media to be famous. Although we can't deny that become a superstar need various requirement. Great hub. You Tube is probably one of the easiest ways to try to become famous but for every success there must be thousands of failures.
I prefer my place out of the limelight. Fame comes with a very high pricetag that I'm not prepared to pay even if I could find a way to become famous.

The Youtube phenomenon is really there come to think of it. One may become famous all of a sudden while they have a great music video upload or something. There are many upcoming stars arising from the youtube culture and I'm not surprised if the phenomenon increases in future. Hub up prasetio.;)

I think it is great that the music industry views You Tube to discover talent. Justin Bieber has a great voice and I believe is worthy of discovery to be famous because of his singing talent. I like Justin Beiber's voice. Really sweet. And Charice definitely can sing. Moymoy Falaboy really hillarious. Most of these people really have talent but I think Shinta and Jojo is more lucky. All they did is act cute and people love them. If God want something, anything can happen, right. :)

Another great place to promote yourself is http://www.makeastar.com/. It's a contest where people vote on your singing after you upload a video of yourself.. and SOO many people see it. Plus if you win there is TOTAL notoriety and cash awards of course. It really is the next American Idol destination!!!
