Up Close and Personal with Tom Martin, a Hyperrealism Artist
68Happy New Year 2011, everyone! I hope 2011 is the best year for us. We can reach our dream in this year. This day is the art day. Why I said so, because today I want to talk again about art. If my last hub talked about sculpture, but now I talk about painting. Again….., I am not get bored to talk about this subject. If you liked beauty, you may love painting. We can found beautiful aspect from painting. Painting was created to be enjoyed. To appreciate painters work. This time I want to write again about a very talented young man with his creation in painting. That’s made me want to say “wow” and “wow” again. I really appreciate many kind of painting stream. But I don’t know why I attracted with this style. Have you ever hear about Hyperrealism? If you didn't ever heard about this before, I am glad to share my knowledge about this painting style. Please continue to read………
The history of Super-realism
Conceptual art is an art movement that was born almost at the same time with minimalist art and Super Realism, it begun in 1960. In some cases, political uncertainty and growing social awareness in Europe and America in the 60's, encourage the artists to stay away from the tradition of the art elite. Some artists are not interested and refused contra-ditional, like: the style, values and aura. Beside the market system didn’t made sense, gallery space limitations and the dominations of curators who increasingly narrow the space of artist at that time. It sharpen the reaction of the artists to create new art. A new art which offered an alternative concept. These reforms originated from England around 1952, involving artists of other European countries, and then spread widely in America in the 1960's
Super-Realism was born based on the desire to return to the form, based on previous flow. The existence of the camera has been used a number of artists as a support in the process of work. Photo camera work was used as a base to produce works of art. The perfection of nature produced by the camera was reproduced back into the work of two dimension art. Knowledge of photography was also used by artists to represent reality with the end result is similar with photography techniques, especially in terms of lighting, the perfection of form and color. Works by two-dimensional super-realism based on the use of photography is also a work art called Photorealism.
Super-Realism artist basically was trying to represent the reality which has great quality both in terms of shapes, colors, light effects and so on, which is better than the quality of the real reality. But how about Hyperrealism, this is a new stream which is begun on 1970. Hyperrealism is the evolution of “photorealism”. I heard that hyperrealism was dedicated to making artworks that are “more real than real”. It’s just not copying the photography, but this is more about emphasize elements.
A biography of Tom Martin
This time I’ll talk about young English artist. His name is Tom Martin. With his talent, he could made a beautiful painting which is real than photography. 24 years of age but he has great motivation. Now, he is already one of the most respected artist in the world. We can see his creation in art exhibition all over the world. I give my thumbs up for him, because looking at his creation we could swear they are simple photographs, but actually they are painstakingly painted by hand, WOW……. May I say this word again?
Who is Tom Martin? He is hyperrealist painter from the UK. He current lives in Rotherham, England. He is a young man who interest with art, sport, painting, and photorealism. Alvarez Kings is his favorite band. His favorite artists are Davis Cone, Luciano Ventrone, Roberto Bernardi, Berdardo Torrens and Pedro Campos. He uses various tools to make his creation so beautiful, like: airbrush, paint, paintbrushes, camera. I heard from that he also use acrylic paint to create the most amazing paintings. These paintings are amazing, prasetio, thanks for bringing this artist to our attention. He may have received some inspiration from Andy Warhol. One of Andy's first paintings was the now famous Campbell Soup can.
Happy New Year Prasetio, thanks for another great hub about art. Your pictures are always top notch, I'm glad to know about this artist he is very talented. Nice work! Peace!! Tom
Truly amazing artistry - I find it hard to believe that Tom Martin's work is not photography, but paintings! Thank you for sharing hyperrealism with us Prasetio!

Prasetio this is absolutely amazing! I wish Tom Martin could paint on the walls of my house a lot of trees and the sea, in order for me to think I’m living in a wooden house in a tree with a view on the beach and sea. Wouldn’t that be beautiful? Thanks for introducing this most talented artist to us. It seems to me you are never going to stop surprising us with the topics of your hubs. You are blessed with magnificent ideas.
Hi, and Happy New Year 2011 Prasetio, amazing Hub! This is very interesting. You always share about talented person in the world. Thanks :)
Very nice again Prasetio! This is kind of Andy Warhol-ish. My favorties are the items on the shelves. I love to see your work. You are so full of surprises! Be safe Prasetio! Peace nephew!
I had not heard of this school of art. Thanks for the introoduction.
That is good stuff. Art can be found where ever you find imagination. Taking the common image and making it jump out at you is a real talent.
prasetio30 this is amazing stuff you have presented here with us today. I can't get over how real those painting look. Very talented, very cool, thanks for sharing.
I, too, must confess. Looked at the images before reading the text and my immediate reaction was, "They look Photoshopped."
Good article and worthy of sharing. I'm going to "Digg" it for you.
It exhibits A Great Painting with extravagant talent.
Happy New Year, Prasetio. Wow, this is truly a new form of arts. Thanks for the eye-opening hub ! I love the photos. Something so normal can be made into something so creative, artistic and beautiful. Truly, it is about how we can make full use of our God-given talents.
This is incredible work and something I would never have guessed was painted by human hands. It is so photo-like that I cannot find the human element in it. Maybe that is what lends to the appeal and mystic of it as the subject matter is rather commonplace. I can remember the painting of the Campbell's Soup Can by by the mid-60's artist O'Leary (I think! LOL!) but that was not even close in terms of the quality of the work. I understand your infatuation and your propensity toward the "wow" factor! Thanks for sharing! WB
This artist would be great at couterfieting money, lol, though really a talented artist, thanks for sharing prasetio;)
Happy New Year Pras! I know I've seen these amazing paintings before, even used some in my 'Chocolate Breakfast' hub, but never realized they were Hyperrealism art! Thanks for a real eyeopener for the new year. Cheers!
Amazing, you are a regular Jack-in-a-Box! Surprise! Great Job and Happy New Year! I will have to think of a surprise for you.
Polly
This is amazing, they look like photographs. Before i sold my old house,i had a painting done on my shed,it was an apple tree with falling apples, floweres and butterflies.I miss it.The woman who painted it was so talented.Thank you for sharing. You find the most fabulous articles.
Cheers
I thought they were good pictures but paintings, I am absolutely amazed! Happy New Year my friend!
Thanks very much for introducing me to this extraordinary young painter. I can't help but wonder what he'll be doing 20 years from now.
I saw above that drbj mentioned Andy Warhol, and I had also immediately thought of him upon viewing Martin's paintings. I also thought of Chuck Close, possibly the most well-known photorealist painter of the late 1960s and early 70s. For as exciting as Warhol and Close are, I think Martin might be even moreso.
Hi Prasetio
Happy New Year to you and your family.
These paintings are exceptional and it is truly difficult to believe that they are not photographs. I always enjoys reading your hubs as I find out about so many things which would otherwise just pass me by.
Amber:)
At his age, Tom Martin should have a long and successful art career ahead of him. Thanks for showcasing his work and letting us know about this talented young man. Voting this up and beautiful.
As usual, this is a fantastic hub and Tom Martin is extremely talented. Those pictures are fantastic. I would like to have a bit of that talent. Great hub, rated up.
a beautiful piece you wrote here my friend. I learned something new today as I have never heard of this person before, he does some beautiful work. Thanks for sharing with us and God Bless
Very good artwork, really but it would be much quicker to do it with a camera. I too paint and wouldn't even attempt to be this realistic, hell I balk at anything that does not look impressionistic
thanks for taking the time to write an article about me.. a couple of these images are not mine however. they belong to a friend called pedro campos, and an artist roberto bernardi, i dont want to take credit for their work..
Happy New Year, Pras. Beautiful work and a visit from the artist himself. Another wonderful Hub.
How awesome, Prasetio - I wish I could do that kinda work!! Happy New Year to you, too and many rewards in the year to come...and always wished your way.
Looking at the paintings I would automatically think trompe-l'oeil because of the illusion although the term hyperrealism fits better due to the intensity of the focus.
The artist paints consumer goods which reminds me of Andy Warhol although done in this style suggests a theme of still life. I find your hub very interesting!!! :D
This hyperrealism art is amazing as it appears just as life like and real as the actual real objects Tom Martin recreates through his art. What a unique and magnificent gift.
Thanks Pras for bringing this amazing artist to our attention. I learned a lot up close and personal about Tom Martin a Hyperrealism Artist.
Rated up and voted all that is good. Thanks for teaching us more wonderful facts. :) Katie
Super -- and fun to read hub!!!!!
Again this is incredible and yet it is not enough to describe your hub as well as his work. I am stunned. Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention and give us the pleasure to appreciate it.
HI, prasetio, this is amazing! I also thought that they were photographs! thank you for teaching me something new again, happy new year! even if I am saying it a bit late now! lol nell
Such a big talent, he really projected the art of hyper-realism really well. If I think right, hyper-reality is gaining popularity nowadays and I think it's a really great form of art. I'm going to check out his website, thanks for putting it there. Voted up your hub.=)

When I first browsed quickly through this hub I was impressed by the photos presented. They are crisp and art in themselves just as photos but many other artists could do that just as well. It was only after I started reading, that I was then truly amazed and impressed by this young artist's gift to reproduce what he sees by painting! He has an incredible talent!
Awesome and beautiful hub - This certainly is!
Once again your hubs have truly inspired us, so God bless you my friend!
Happy New Year and look forward to reading more inspiring hubs from you in 2011.
