Updated on November 2, 2011

Actually this hub is related with sport. But I liked the "Race" term. Because we all familiar with kind of sport like football, jogging, swimming, gym, basket ball, tennis, etc. But these are totally different. But have the same idea and the same passion. Why I said so, because we get sweat after doing this activity and most of them is fun. We live in different country and we also have different culture and tradition. Every country have special event. It usually can be done once in a year or annually event and in the special moment.

It become a great moment when one of the participant as a winner. I have some information about unique race around the world. Most of these races totally unique and I think it's impossible to do or out of our mind. For me personally some of these races make me smile even laugh. I think some of you familiar with one of this race, because it came from your country. But I like to present this hub to all of you. I hope you all enjoy this information.

Office-Chairs Racing Championship

After I find this information it looks funny things. We usually use it as a tool to sit. But know we use the office chair for race. We can found it in Germany. As an annually event, with the race route as far as 170m up to 200m. If we found this chair in the office but this time we can found it on the street as a race vehicle. I think it really fun, enjoyable and release stress. This is as a proof that German people usually creative, smart, serious and always thought for high technology. But this time they succeed to make something interesting and have sense of humor, like this race.

Wife carrying championship

Like the name of this race, a wife must be shouldered her husband through a variety of barrier including mud, water and other barrier. The prize for the winner was beer with the same weight with his wife. This race came from Finland. It inspired with the history. About the legend in 19th-century, it said that there were people steal wives from neighboring villages. It also mentioned they create great soldier. the soldier have to shouldering the heavy sacks.

The husband would bring his wife on his back and ran through the various barriers which are provided. The "wife" can be anyone, the real wife allowed, even the sister or neighbors. With the race route as far as 250 meters long.  If the "wife" falling down, the meaning was you'll be punished for 15 seconds. Dennis Rodman as a Chicago Bulls player had tried this race. And he enjoyed it very much.

World Mountain Bike Bog Snorkelling Championships

What is your hobby? if your hobby is snorkeling and cycling, I think it good for you to try this race. This is kind of extreme adventure travel experience. Combination between snorkeling and cycling. We can found this race in Llanwrytd Wells, Mid-Wales. This even held in July and August. For more than 20 years, I think this is as a tradition for the people over there, even for the people outside Wales.

Participants should wear swimsuits complete with breathing equipment and mountain bikes, then brought into the dirty swamp. Race begins and ends at the same spot in the Waen Rhydd swamp. With a depth of 6 feet and wide of 45 feet, participants must ride back and forth in this swamp. If you fall off the bike, you will not get the value of punishment. The rule is, every person is required to dive in the mud as far as 60 yards, who recorded the fastest time as the winner. The fastest world record in 1 minute 35 seconds is Phillip John from England

Fish Throwing Competitions

I like tuna very much. This fish contain a lot of protein. But do you ever think this fish become part of the race. Actually there was a fish throwing festival. This festival use tuna as an object. This festival held each year on January 26-27 in Port Lincoln, South Australia. This festival called Tunarama. Tuna-throwing contest also attract many tourist. The interesting things of this competitions was the grand prize about $7,000. So, to win the grand prize the participants must throw a tuna fish like a hammer. You know what I mean? Cheese Rolling Competition

I think we all liked cheese. Cheese was a delicious food as a product of milk. Cheese also took a part of competition. Actually this race is simple, just rolling a wheel of Double Glouchester cylindrical cheeses to the bottom of the hill and people trying to reach this cheese. This event was located at Cooper's Hill in Gloucestershire (UK), a slope which quite steep. No wonder, most of the participants were drunks. Because of many injuries due this competition. At one year, two-thirds of the contestants were injured and in 1998, police stopped this competition for safety reasons.

Cheese rolling has a long history. Combine between to reach the food which does not make sense (only a cheese) against the prohibition of local governments because of the risk of head injury and a serious leg fracture. As information, this cheese can achieve speeds of 70 miles per hour.

What is your favorite cellular brand? Nokia, Sony Erricson, Samsung or Motorola. I think when we have this mobile phone, we have to take care this stuff from damage. Like the damage for water or because of falling down. How if the mobile intentionally thrown? I think we never imagine about that. But this was really happened in the beautiful country, we can only seen that in Finland. Phone throwing is an international sport that began in Finland in 2000. Based the techniques and the farthest distance. We can use many types of cellular phone, whatever as long as follow the rule more than 220 grams. But there were also requiring a certain phone model. There were 4 categories of this competition. And most of them also enjoy this race.
