The world's Largest Ant Colony (Amazing Video)
79What do you think about ants? Ants are small animal who lived in colony, included in the class of insects. Most of ants are social insects of the family Formicidae. They don’t compete with one another for food and mates and food, protect, or breed for the greater good of all the colonies. Sometimes they look so aggressive, because they’re not relatives like individuals within each colony.
There’s a weird experiment has been conducted by the scientist from Japan and Spain. They had ant battles from several colonies around the world. Like: California, Japan, European supercolony and another smaller colony in Catalonia (Europe). These scientists watched the ants fight each other. The result is some of the colony from California and Japan and Europe all got along famously. But ants from the smaller supercolonies in Catalonia and Japan acted aggressively toward from other colonies. The conclusion from this research is ants recognize one another from chemical similarities on their cuticle.
The case above is an example how the scientist try to reveal more deep about this animal. They have a passion to discover and invent something which is new to the world, due to their continuous efforts to achieve something. There’s great news about the scientists investigated to find out how the subterranean cities of Ants looked like and I got this news completed with the video. Actually this isn’t recent news, but an old news maybe. Some of the video I got from YouTube had been posted in 2008. But my heart said, “I have to spread this news to the world”. Maybe this is my passion as a teacher.
Giant ant colony was found!
Scientists are excavating giant ant hill. From the video we can see how the Scientists used their efforts and got the success in finding the ant colonies. With the helped of mechanism digger (digging machines) the scientist remove tons of soils and dug out 10 tons of cement down under the tubes (a hole made by ants). This research was led by Prof. Louis Fortune. This research found some giant and complex structures made by ant. This is like a masterpiece amongst all. What does the structure look like? It’s like subterranean highways connected to the main chambers and it's like ants farm fungus gardens. This was amazing design made by ant colonies where this structure was provided shortest path of transporting with great ventilation facility, even how this animal has built their air conditioning system. The ventilation system has a purpose to release the large amounts of carbon dioxide generated by the garden and bring in fresh oxygenated air.
Wow….personally I can’t imagine how the small creature can make this structure. As we know that the most perfect creature is human because we completed by God with brain. From this research we know that ant is one of smart animal among other animal in this world.
It’s a marvelous design. Everything looks like has been design by proffesional architect. This kingdom and complex city was created by collective well by the ants colonies as the super organism. The structure about fifty square meters and goes five meters deep into the earth. To make this construction the ants colonies need about forty tons of soil. It’s a truly the wonder of the world. This was really giant colony of Ants. This structure seems to be equivalent to the building of Great Wall of China, though we can see this from the moon like the real great wall. The video shows that though ants are so small, their power cannot be underestimated during their work in unity. They must achieve great things despite their small size.
Sorry if the video doesn't work due to some reasons. But I hope this video running here and represent all the descriptions.

I hope we can learn from this hub and remind us how togetherness still needed to achieve something, although difficult to do or outside of our minds. Special quotes for us: “But let there be spaces in your togetherness and let the winds of the heavens dance between you. Love one another but make not a bond of love: let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. - Kahlil Gibran

Ten tons of cement! Massive. Your heart led you pras. And we are the wiser for it. If these creatures can create something so magnificent and complex, it becomes very difficult to think this ant city/construct could just all be a cosmic accident. Thanks my friend- this is when the word awesome, without a doubt serves it's purpose. Vote er up!
This is great!
Interesting hub about ants. I'm still not gonna "like" them because they are pesky, but we can learn a lot from them. UP and interesting. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my hub!
I hate bugs but I really like you!
This is fantastic prasetio! How could anyone look at this and not believe in a God! You have shown us many of His majestic beauties and this is yet another.
Hi prasetio,
Fascinating! I thought the videos were a great compliment to your well researched and presented hub. Incredible that these tiny creatures can create such a complex structure...voted up and awesome!
Cloverleaf.
Hi prasetio, this is absolutely fasinating, the design of the structure is amazing and looks human made!
Thank you for sharing a wonderful hub, voting up
Ho completely fascinating and totally amazing - only you can produce such a wonderful and amazing hub such as this! Awesome, up and pressing those buttons as always.
The ant colony is absolutely amazing and the video is fascinating, Prasetio. Thank you for sharing the information. Voted interesting!
Very tiny insects, yet so powerful.
Thanks for another interesting Hub.
This is another amazing find. Ants are like Master builders. Thank you...
Thank you so much for finding and sharing this fascinating information. Your Hub interested me so much that I spent a happy hour or so reading everything I could find on the net about this project.
Then I recalled a book I'd read about 10 years ago, "Journey to the Ants", written by Bert Holldobler and Edwin O. Wilson, Pulitzer Prize winners in 1990 for their monumental scientific work called "The Ants".
"Journey to the Ants" (1994) is still in print, and I think you and your readers would enjoy it. It is a "made for real people" version of their scientific work, with incredible photographs and illustrations, and reads like a fast-paced novel.
What a grear hub friend. Very interesting. I believe this shows how great they are at building these great structures.
Fascinating hub. The size and intricacy of what these colonies create leaves one awestruck. We are left to wonder not only how, but why? Kahlil Gibran has always been one of my favorites, btw. Thank you for this very interested read, Pras.
An amazing video. Nature always fascinates me with its organisational capabilities.
Hi praseito
Amazing! The ants show us that we can accomplish anything through determination and working together.
I wonder how long it took the ants to build the world's largest colony.
Voted up, up and away.
How interesting - some ants can get along, some cannot. There is so much we do not know about nature but we can learn so much if we stop destroying everything we touch. Everything has a purpose.
Thanks for the links too.
Rate up of course. Yay!
So interesting! Currently I have one of those nests under my house. Again. Will have to call pest control. Again. What we have here is a little white termite, eating rotten material. I remember when they built my house 7 years ago they'd used all kinds of rubbish as a filling. Including wood, I believe. But perhaps the queen is not in the foundation, but elsewhere. Must be. Thanks for the info, prasetio. Voted up and brilliant.
That is amazing and creepy at the same time. Very interesting too.
Prasetio, Marvelous hub! Absoutely fascinating! What unity they have... The Word of God tells us we can learn much from the ant "Go to the ant you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provision in the summer amd gathers its food at harvest" Proverbs 6.
Thank up or sharing another one of your incredible hubs!
In HIS Love, Grace, Joy, Peace & Blessings! GOD BLESS YOU!
What an amazing house these industrious insects have created. The soldier ants are a formidable sight marching, river-like, through the jungle. Most people are fascinated by them and once again you have found an interesting topic to entertain us with. Cheers buddy.
Hi, pras, they are clever little things, aren't they? I recently saw a tv program about them, and it amazed me, to think scientists put them together to see if they got on, and realised that some did and some didn't was fascinating, interesting stuff! rated up! cheers nell
Wow - and I thought we had some big ant hills! This is a fascinating hub. Voted up!
Wow! The pictures and video were something! I remember seeing (obviously a small colony) an art piece made out of the works of an ant colony. A different material was used in place of concrete and it was absolutely stunning. Ever since when I see evidence of ants, I think of the beauty below ground. Thanks for this wonderful hub Prasetio. Ratings up!
Really Great and informative article about ants. It is surprising to know that ants won't fight for food. Thank you prasetio30.
