The Most Luxurious Prison In The World (Complete With Pictures)

Updated on May 25, 2010

Actually I was confused in choosing the category of this hub. The first time I want to choose "travel & places" category, but if I look back the title and the description this hub related with "Politics & Social Issues" with the subcategory "Crime & Justice". I don't want the title not connected with the content inside this hub. Back to topic, this time is difficult for us, bad economic condition haunted many people around the world. And this was also happen in my country, where many crimes shown up at the newspaper. With the big headline. Like: bank robbery, the recently news was the gold shop being robbed by the thief (about 3 kilograms of jewelry were disappeared from the shop). And many other cases like murder, corruption, rape, fraud, etc. Where all the cases end? a suspect will end up in jail, after going through the court process.

Jail is the best place for the crime suspect. And we all know the condition of the jail. Although we got free meal and place to rest, but better place is the house, right! I think we have seen all about prison in the movie. How bad the condition during in prison. We also haunted by other criminal. Other bad condition like sanitary, food, have to join with other prisoners at the same jail.

But this place is totally different with other prison. This jail is totally luxurious with complete facilities. This is good news for the crime suspect who will be jailed. The Government of Norway will operated the new prison and this jail is very luxurious. It called Halden Fengsel. With capacity around 225 prisoners. Halden Fengsel is the second largest prison in the Scandinavian countries.

Halden Fengsel was completed with various facilities, like: music studio, gym, and a guest house with luxurious interiors allow prisoners to stay with the family who visited them. The location was in the large area around 30 hectares.

Unlike other prisons in other place which very humid and the smell of urine which stung the nose. Halden prison’s always smell by the fragrant from the kitchen, where inmates learn to cook. Are Hoidal is the head of the correctional institution in Norway said that "Norwegian prison system concerned with human rights and respect for prisoners, what was in Halden prison was not extraordinary thing". He also believes that humane treatment of prisoners will reduce the crime. "Here, there are drugs dealers, murderers, and rapists. But we want to fix them with restoring confidence through education and training work" said Hoidal. Based on accurate data, only 20% of the ex-prisoners who returned  to the prison in Norway. The good news is Norway's crime rate was low, around 69 per 100 thousand inhabitants. We can learn from the Norway Government how to make this real.

Please enjoy all the pictures below.

Do you want to stay here? I don't think so. I think we don't want to be jailed. Like I said before, The comfortable place is in the house. If you want to stay more enjoyable, hotel is the best choice for us to relax while holiday or vocation. I hope this hub become a knowledge for us and we can learn about the social system from another country. Living in harmony is the goal of life. I hope we can live in peace without any crime around us.....amen.
