"The Magic Realism" by Rob Gonsalves
77I love art and I want to share about another beautiful painting from talented person. There are many painting style and I found something new from this artist. If we see his paintings, it’s like in the fairytale where everything is out of our imagination. He had success in presenting wonderful idea based on his imagination through painting. This time I’ll talk about Rob Gonsalves. I don’t know why my fingers guide me to type more about him. His passion in art is very amazing. I can’t lie about this after we see all his work here. If you read my previous hub about art and painting, maybe this hub is a series of my hub about painting.

Up close and personal with Rob Gonsalves
Rob Gonzales is an artist from Canada. He was born in 1959, in Canada. He has beautiful style paintings, like: Magical Realism, Seamless Transitions, and Surrealism. He can interpret the imagination in a canvas. Magical Realism itself is an aesthetic style where the magical elements blend with the real world. The painting looks like a story from the place between the "real" and the "fantastic" in the same stream of thought. In magical realism we find the transformation of time. It’s like timeless fluidity and the unreal happens as part of reality.
Castle on the Cliff
Table Top Towers
Gonzales has shown his talent in art since he was childhood. He was very interest with drawing from imagination using various types of media he began to develop his talent. Even at the age of twelve, he created his first painting and other marvelous work like renderings of imagined buildings. But he began his first surrealist paintings after introduced by Dalí and Tanguy as his inspiration. Actually, he worked full time as an architect during post college years. He decided to paint full time after he got amazing response at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition, in 1990.

He is like an illusionist in creating a magical painting though he is often categorized as surrealistic. He always used his sense of magic into realistic painting. So, he worked very accurate in presenting the "Magic Realism". He liked to involve recognizable humanity side like human activities. He always tried to touch human beings in impossible way. But the most interesting from his idea is he tried to be open to possibility. He make everything looks different and beautiful as well.

On the Upswing
Ladies of the Lake
Into The Labyrinth
He always used various media to created beautiful painting, like: Acrylic on Canvas, Giclee on Pap Reproduction, Giclee on Canvas Print with the subject as transitional scenes. The popular pieces of him, like: Light Flurries, Ladies of the Lake, Cathedral of Commerce, Dancing Wind, and Sailing Islands.

He also created series of books. Wow…personally I give my thumbs up for him. I believe that he has good purpose to introduce “Magic Realism” to the world. The first book featuring sixteen paintings has a title "Imagine a Night". Another book with the title "Imagine a Place" was released in 2008. May I give my “wow” again? If other artist produce many painting each year, but Gonzales usually finishes about four paintings each year. I thought he want to make something perfect.

The last words from me
As the person who adore art and painting. Rob Gonsalves amaze me with his talent. From his work my imaginations fly to the fairyland where I can found something about “miracle”. It almost unreal but he has success to present between imagination and humanity side into the real world. From example is Sailing Island where the tree was the inspiration for screen of the boats. “Light Flurries”, where the tree as the inspiration of the buildings. Another painting is "Ladies of the Lake", where the shadows of the tree was the inspiration for rows of ladies. That’s why I called this out of our imagination.
