The Largest Chocolate Bar in the World (Completed With Video)
I thought many of us love chocolate. Who doesn’t like chocolate? What do you think if there’s a giant chocolate in front of you? Yummy…..I thought we want to taste this as soon as possible without thinking twice, right. Chocolate is often used as an expression of gratitude, sympathy, or concern. Even as a declaration of love. I had written several hubs related with chocolate. Each manufacturer of chocolate has a comparison of different materials. Each comparison produces flavors, colors and also different textures, like:
- Milk Chocolate, cocoa butter and chocolate combined in various proportions, sugar and full cream milk (usually condensed milk) was added.
- Dark Chocolate uses the same process but without milk.
- White Chocolate made with cocoa butter, milk and sugar and contains no chocolate liquor
A little about Thorntons Company
This time I want to talk about the largest chocolate in the world. I thought record-breaking has always received the attention of many people. This also happened in Derbyshire, United Kingdom. Thorntons as one of the largest independent chocolate firm in the United Kingdom breaks Guinness world record. Thorntons itself is a UK chocolate company established by Joseph William Thornton in 1911. Now, Thornton is the largest, independent chocolate company in the United Kingdom since the takeover of Cadburys by US Company Kraf. With the unique advertising slogan, like: "Chocolate Heaven Since 1911" and "The Art of The Chocolatier". Thorntons try to make life as easy as possible for their customer. So the customer can place their order from Thorntons’s website, email or by phone. They also offer various levels of discount to their customers. The great achievement for this company is they got “Academy of Chocolate Gold Award Winners in 2011” as a master chocolatier, based on the number of gold award winning chocolates they produce. You can check Thorntons website at: www.thorntons.co.uk
The world's largest chocolate bars
Thornton break the new records for the largest chocolate in the world as the celebration 100th birthday the factory of Thornton by combining the company's centenary and Chocolate Week celebrations. This chocolate company has created a giant chocolate bar measuring about 4 meter wide and by 4 meter long. With the weight about 5,872 kg or almost six tones, this chocolate beating the previous record of 5,529 kg, set by World's Finest Chocolate. This news based on the World Records Academy. This was the largest chocolate bar in the world has been made in Derbyshire.
The idea in making of this chocolate came from Paul Bell, who works in the factory's toffee department. He said that his favorite childhood film was “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”. I am glad to remind us again about this movie when a young boy wins a tour through the most magnificent chocolate factory in the world, led by the world's most unusual candy maker.
There was a scene in this movie as the inspiration of Paul to create the largest chocolate in the world. In one scene there’s a massive chocolate bar comes in and gets shrunken. Who have played the role in making this giant chocolate? More than 50 people were involved in the making of this massive bar, at its factory in Somercotes. They need a giant mould and it took 10 hours to pour chocolate into the mould by bucket-carrying volunteers and several tonnes of melted chocolate to make the biggest chocolate bar in the world.
Keith Hurdman as Thorntons Master Chocolatier said that it took about few months of planning this chocolate bars and this achievement as the celebration of Thorntons 100th birthday. So, what next? Do they just throw away, sell in pieces or give it free to the people? This chocolate will not go to waste. Paul Bell said this giant chocolate will given to Thorntons staff, customers in shops and sold in stores to raise money for charities. But how do they cut this chocolate into small pieces. Paul Bell will be broken up this chocolate with axes. I thought there are many people wait this moment and even willing to queue for a taste this chocolate. Different shape will give the different sensation. Please enjoy the pictures and the video inside this hub.
