The Beauty of Winter
77Winter is identical with snow and Christmas. This month is perfect month for winter. Winter itself is the coldest season of the year, it happened between autumn and spring. It doesn’t happen in my country as a tropical country. Indonesia has only two seasons, there are wet season and dry season. But the sun almost shines every years, it’s the main reason for tourist to visit Indonesia. Back to the topic, winter never seems too bad at first, especially if we see the first snow falling from the sky. It looks so beautiful. When the area covered by the snow, it looks white and pure. First snowfall as the most amazing moment, it's hard to resist that warm. Meteorologists divided by the winter in three calendar months with the lowest average temperatures. Sorry if this hub is uncompleted with the trusted information about winter. I just want to share about the beauty during the winter. I know that there’s no perfect season in the world. I believe that God created this for us to wake up and we should grateful with everything God’s gave to us. I believe that winter is one of the best gift for us.
Fun activities in winter
Although I haven’t seen the real snow in my life (during the winter) but I got useful information from my own friend who lived in UK. He said that winter is totally fun and we can do several activities during this season. Like: skiing, snow castle building, sledding, snowboarding, snowball fight, winter camping (sleeping outside, cooking and eating during the winter), bobsledding, snowshoeing and even snowmobiling. We can do a several sports during the winter and this sport focused on ice. Like: ice skating, ice fishing, ice boating, ice biking, ice hockey, ice racing, ice diving, ice climbing, ice sculpture.
Dangerous but still beautiful
There’s a strange phenomenon happened during winter, it called ice fog. It’s like ice crystals suspended in the air, with the very low temperature (about –30°C or –22°F). As I said before that there’s no perfect season and it also happen in winter. There’s a winter storm. The fact said that the storm may very well impact a third of the population of the United States, it's about 100 million people. The destructive winter storm will be changed into thunderstorm and produces damaging winds, hail and a few tornadoes. Winter storm be categorized into the four factors, like: destructive ice, heavy snow, bitter cold, and tornadoes. But don’t worry, from this hub I’ll share about how this season very beautiful.
Some people said that traveling in winter is very exciting. There’s a different sensation compared to other seasons.
The best winter vacation
- Miami Beach. Miami Beach is a top destination of the year but winter is perhaps the best time to visit. Because of the temperature are warm and completed with boutique hotels, Lincoln Road Mall, and Bass Museum of Art. We can enjoy the fun events happen in the winter as well, like: South Beach Wine & Food Festival, annual Winter Party and the Food Network's. These events usually held every February.
- Banff. If you want to enjoy the winter's chilly winds and sugary snowfalls, there's no better place than Banff. This place is located in Alberta's Rockies along the Trans-Canada Highway. It is a town within Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. Most of tourists know how to enjoy the colder months at this tiny town. There are three resorts to choose from, like: Sunshine Village, Banff Mount Norquay and the Lake Louise Ski Resort where skiing as the main attraction here. Another attraction is winter hiking and cross-country skiing. Banff became hosts for several wintertime festivals, like: the WinterStart Festival at the end of November. Another festival is the Ice Magic Festival, this festival held in January.
- Geneva. There’s main reason why we should visiting Geneva in winter. Cheaper flights and skiing are the main reason. There are number of excellent ski resorts. Geneva is also become a host of popular events. These events held in December, like: the International Christmas Market and the Escalade Festival, International Christmas Tree & Lights Festival.
- New York City. Most of us know that New York is a big city in USA. But a trip to the big city like New York in the winter has a number of advantages. Such as: Cheaper flights, discounted hotel rooms, some great bargains for shoppers. There are several events held at New York City during the winter, like: the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the New York City Marathon and the New Year's Eve Celebration in Times Square.
- Key West. Most of people said that they felt a balance between warm weather and frozen at Key West. This happened in mellow afternoons and evenings. With a great adventure activities, like snorkeling, scuba diving or we can try bike trails.
The reasons why we should traveling in Europe in winter
- Cheaper rates. We can find this from the airfare, hotels, rail tickets on the ground, discount are largest in small towns (as tourism place).
- Festivals. There are number of annual events held during the winter, including: the Dublin International Film Festival (late February), the Kiruna Snow Festival (late January) and Carnival (late February).
- Winter sports. There are several winter sports we can find in Europe, such as: skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, snowkiting, extreme sledding, and ice racing. Why there are so many winter sports in Europe, because of top 10 international ski mountains were in Europe.
- Indoor attractions. Europe has numerous of indoor attractions, such as: art galleries, museums, cathedrals and palaces. Where the temperatures outdoor is freezing, so the best way to spend the time is enjoy the beautiful performances inside theaters and concert halls.
- The aurora. I mean it’s a beautiful light at night. When the darker days come, it’s mean good opportunities to see the Northern Lights. We need to be in northern Scandinavia to get the pictures of this light.
- The temperate south. The best time to visit weather-wise for destinations are Cyprus, Canary Islands, Sicily, Crete and the southern regions of Spain, Italy, Greece and France.
- Winter cuisine. It’s part of world cuisine as well. We can find traditional cold-weather dishes throughout Europe. Raclette and fondue are easily found in Switzerland and parts of France. This food is based around warmed cheese. Roasted chestnuts are always found at Christmas markets.
- Ice hotels. This hotel is the main attraction during the winter in Europe. Tourist accommodations are built up from the ice in northern Scandinavia. Ice hotels were built every winter. Everything was carefully carved from the frozen blocks, including buildings to beds. Some of the ice hotels are built in Sweden, Norway (Kirkenes Snow Hotel, Ice Lodge, Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel- Alta), Romania and Finland (Lainio Snow Village).

We lived in high mountain in California, we always had a lot of snow and it gets old having to shovel out of the house. Now we are in the Nevada and ususally once a year we have a little snow covering but of course it doesn't last. Your picture are great. Voted it up.
Great hub and photos. I did not know that Indonesia only had two seasons. I live in New England where we have four strong seasons, which makes for a big variety of clothing/gear. It is beautiful but can sometimes make travel difficult. I like your suggestions to take a vacation in the winter to save on expenses. Voted up.

Absolutely beautiful, you captured the beauty of winter and snow. I have experienced snow for most of my life, but now live in the West Coast so don't see much snow around here. I remember when I lived in NY, how when snow covered the streets, a peace seemed to descend.

Nice hub here @ Prasetio30 I also love and enjoy winter very much, but my wife hates it she says. Winter is good for many sports like you've shown an image of snowboarding here.
I been snowboarding and its super fun as long as you put on the Boots correctly, you should have no problem learning the ropes to it, if you haven't yet ventured onto the slopes.

When I was a child, my sister and I use to like making snow angels.
You have to lie in the snow while moving your arms and legs in and out together. Carefully stand up and look at the angel you made. :-)

You have manage to capture the beauty of winter and I enjoyed reading this hub! Even though I don´t like the cold during winter I must say that it is beautiful:) Here in Sweden it is now the darkest month of the year and the sun is only visible between 9:00 in the morning and15:30 in the afternoon. The snow helps a bit though and makes it look lighter a bit longer. Thanks for this wonderful hub Prasetio, voted up.

Very thorough hub, good job. I'm from Ohio and the winter there wasn't that great because you can't ski and there aren't any scenic places to go to. I guess that's why I moved away.

voted up awesome,beautiful and interesting.Great winter pictures you have chosen.In many ways we people who live in cold climates have contradictory feelings. We curse the cold, yet winter is a part of us. As you point out many people are active in winter sports and activities.
