The Beauty of Hidden Place in the World
90Good morning, everyone. I get new energy to write this hub after a tired work for my students, about seven days I am not wrote hub. I hope this is become one of special hub. After wrote with healthy topic, I am back with travel and places topic. After working hard for couple days, I thought it’s good for me to see beautiful places around the world. And I hope this hub always useful for us. This time I give something special about other place in the world, we’ve never seen before. Maybe some of us know this place better than me. But these places are really new for me and make this place as the special location. Why I said so, because this like a hidden place of the world and totally amazing. That’s why I love to write these as the newest travel place. I also put these place on my travel list. I hope all of you enjoy to read this hub a an alternative for travel destination.
Sigiriya, Lions Mountain
I have to admit to all of you, before doing research about this place. I never know the existence of this mountain. Sigiriya is located in Matale District, Sri Lanka. This is traditional architecture which is totally beautiful, great combination between buildings and gardens with trees, pathways and water garden. Sigiriya or we can call this Lions stone or Lions Mountain, because there’s a giant lion sculptures near the door entrance. Sigiriya was surrounded by forests, dams and gardens also. Why this places so special, because the place is located on top of the rock. From the sky it looks like a beautiful painting. As the one of the most beautiful place in the world combined with stunning scenery, it makes Sigiriya visited by many tourists.
There is a unique story behind Sigiriya. In the 5th century, there’s a king namely Kassapa I, because he felt threatened so he built palace and swimming pool on the rock hill with altitude around 200 meters. He made made a kind of fortress with a moat full of crocodiles and gardens also. That’s why this place also called: Fortress in the sky. I heard there are 1190 stairs. With the entrance ticket about $15 we can see the beautiful scenery above the rock hill. So, ready to climb?
Banaue Rice Terraces
As the eighth wonder of the world, this place so amazing and beautiful. Located in the Ifugao Mountain, Philippines. Banaue Rice Terraces was declared as UNESCO world heritage site in 1995. It’s difficult to describe this place, it’s like stepping stones to the sky. This rice fields located at 1,500 meters above sea level and surrounding mountain slopes as far as 10,360 square kilometers. Unbelievable, this place created with traditional tools by the ancient people a long time ago, about 2 thousand years ago. We can see a lot domestic and international tourist here, as the major attraction of Banaue Rice Terraces as the hiking trails. Although the location of Banaue Rice Terraces is a little bit far from Manila (the capital city of Philippines) about 9 hours to take a trip, but this place become the most amazing destinations in Philippines. As the unforgettable place to visit, I believe we never regret spending time to see the beautiful of this rice fields.
Tower of Hercules
As the ancient Roman lighthouse, this place located in on a peninsula about 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometers) outside the city of A Coruña, Galicia, in present-day northwestern Spain. I heard that Tower of Hercules as the oldest active lighthouse in the world which is standing about 185 meters high. Based the old story about the Hercules killed the giant tyrant Geryon. After buried the head of the Geryon, he ordered to build the city where the lighthouse stand on the city. Now we can still found this lighthouse, although it has reached the age of 1900 years and rehabilitated in 1791. The Roman lighthouse heritage still functioned until now. As the commit of the government to taking care this building as the world’s herritage (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and make Tower of Hercules as the 10 must-see attractions in Galicia, Spain. You can see stunning viewpoint after climb the staircase. There’s also a museum and Sculpture near the tower. Come and feel the salt and the sea breeze on your face.
Ajanta Caves
I love to write about cave. As the beauty of nature, we can see many caves in the world as the subject of tourism place. This is naturally happen in the earth, without human intervention. There’s a beautiful cave in Maharashtra, India. It called Ajanta caves. As the one of the many ancient relics which exist in India. There is a reason why this cave looks so special, because there are extraordinary wall paintings and also numerous Buddha statues with high artistic value. All the beauty inside this cave has been created in the 2nd century BC. Finally in the spring of 1819, a British officer namely Captain Smith accidentally entered the steep canyon. But I want you to know before he came to this place, over the past 1300 years this cave has been abandoned. Outside the cave tall shrubs grow, like hidden forest was hid the existence of this cave. No one ever knew there is an extraordinary world heritage (UNESCO World Heritage Site). As the Buddhist rock-cut cave temples, I thought this place is good to visit.
Valley of Flowers
This is a national park in the Indian Hilamayas. Who the creator of this park? The story begun with a British mountaineer, namely Frank S. Smythe in 1931 after a successful climbing expedition. He amazed with the variety of wildflowers growing there and then in 1937 he come back to collect more than two hundred botanical species. In 1938 he also create a book, with tittle “Valley of Flowers”, he got many attention of the world. From the check post (the Forest Department issues entry permits for the national park) there’s three kilometers long track to the entrance of the valley of flowers. As the glacial corridor with eight kilometres in length and with two kilometers in width, we can see the beautiful carpet full with wildflowers during the monsoon season. This valley enriched by the mountains and forests as the beautiful background. Valley of flowers is declared a national park (Nanda Devi National Park) in 1982. Local people know the existence of the valley of flowers, they believe that the place was inhabited by the fairies.
Metéora, the exotic monasteries
The first time I saw the picture of Metéora monastery, I really surprise and I don’t believe that this monastery was built and it can stand on top of the rock mountain. Metéora is also a part of UNESCO World Heritage Site. Meteora is one of the largest Eastern Orthodox Monastery complex and most important in Greece. Six of the monasteries were built in natural stone pillar. I can’t imagine how difficult to build this monastery. There are six monasteries in this complex. Precisely, these monasteries are located in the area of Thessaly, near the Pineios river , northwest side of Central Greece. What make this place is special because the access to the monastery which is very difficult. I hear that to achieve one of these monasteries, we have to use long nets. It also used to raising and lowering goods, including humans. Most of people said it takes strong faith to get to this monastery.
