The Art Of Graffiti
77I liked something about art. When I was riding my motor bike yesterday, in the corner of the street there was something which amazed me. What's that? a painting in the wall. That's so beautiful, even I was not able to close my eyes. Who's paint is this? and why a person paint in the public wall. It made me curious. Unfortunately I wasn't brought my digital camera. When I got back to the home, I browse about this. And I got the answer, this is a graffiti.
Graffiti art is one art that was popular among the youth of today. and art Grafity often interpreted by a community group as the art of arrogance that only promote the emotional work of the creator. Graffiti art is describing a person's mood and it's translated into an image on a large media (walls in general) and can be enjoyed by all people
And I found another view about graffiti is drawing or writing something like a symbol or picture applied to any surface without permission of the property owner. Usually the people doing this in some popular target, like:
- public or private building, usually it paint in the wall.
- Bridges or overpasses
- Recreational facilities
- Public transportation and vehicle
They usually use the material like: spray paint, automotive car paint, crayon and permanent ink. I think we all familiar with this. And It little difficult for me, this is kind of art or not. Because there is a pro and cons about the graffiti. Let's check it out.
Pros and cons about graffiti
Not only street painter who liked to paint on the walls but the students often do these things. There were various people also a saying that creating a work of art called the Grafity is an art which is priceless. I keep wondering why there are still forbidding them to make an artistic creation, this i s actually against my heart who liked art. But I try to search many information about this. And I find the pros and cons about graffiti.
The pros people said:
- This is kind of art, this could enhance the creativity of street painters.
- To the elite people who have a dusty areas and hollow walls, it would be nice if the wall was filled with a beautiful painting.
- They hope to the government in providing a building or a field in which give them a chance to pour their inspiration.
- They need guidance in order to be directed into a well-educated artists. I found the information about there is a school of graffiti in my country. I hope they can do well, not just make a trouble.
The cons people said:
- They make a dirty environment with paintings that are not useful.
- Damaging public facilities and private facilities.
- Without permission they paint it public wall or private wall and it make dirty in many places.
- This is identical with crime, they should put in the jail.
What do you think personally about this topic. We have the right to argue or give an opinion. Don't judge the person by the cover, that's small quotes which give a lot of meaning. It can be a meaning we have to give another reason why it can be categorized good or not.But in this hub you can free to share your opinion, do you agree or not? there is no limited for you to shout your opinion. I really appreciate about that. Thank you very much.

I like graffiti when it is organised and well thought out, some of it is incredible work, unfortunately all the "tagging" gives it a bad name...there are really some amazing artists wandering around out there :)
Of course, it is art and some of them are fantastic. The snobbish artworld could bow down and take these artist on. I have seen a lot in London and most of them are great. The artist sucrifies everything for art. Whichother sector would they do this for being employed or recognized. They living poorly or rough. I think they aught to be admired. Thank you for your great hub.
Prasetio, Graffiti is often great art but as others said it can be a problem when it is gang related. There should be designated areas for the art because as much as I like most of it, I don't want to see it on all buildings. Interesting hub.
Great Pix. All those good graffiti makes me agree that it's art. I also see that sadly many are concerned about artists or their affiliations.
Some of it is stunning art work. However if someone painted it on my house wall I would not be pleased. I guess it depeneds where it is painted
When it's done well- it is pretty. Thanks Prasetio!
If it's done in a proper place, with a proper reason, then I like it. But seeing it used to mark gang territories doesn't help me appreciate it very much.
Just awesome. Your collections are unmatched. You have truly a sense of art, really. All the best.
I think some grafiti can spice up areas in neighborhoods & areas but I hate to see it in unwanted or places that it makes it look trashy, such as train cars & such...Great Hub!
Graffiti is an art form but we also see the non art form on the sides of buildings train cars and private property that appear overnight. It is these forms that taint the true artist.
Blessings and a great hub
Hi this is interesting because it makes us think about the pros and cons of this type of graffiti.
it is true that on ugly building it can brighten an area but sometimes in cities it cause big problems for the railway companies and also can be dangerous for the people working on their graffiti art. It does costs a lot of money to clean away the graffiti when it is placed in unwanted places.
The plus side is that this type of art becomes a part of every day life and is not just restricted to people who can visit art galleries.
The famous - Banksy started out as a graffiti artist and now his work is sort after by the galleries. A very interesting and thought provoking hub, thank you.
very cool hub.
I like the ones that come across as a thing of beauty or add something to the building. I do think it all depends how tastefully it is done has a lot to do with it and the meaning behind the message that matters. And it certainly is one way to introduce folks to art!
I've seen some absolutely stunning graffiti and some that came from a sewer. These artists that get crude, in my opinion, are taking the easiest way to draw attention to their work. The true graffiti artists has no need to do that -- his/her work will stand on it's own. Nice Hub - and thanks, Best. Sis
graffiti art is amazing but doing it on a canvas that is not yours is another thing. So I can see the pros and cons of it. Like if someone chose to graffiti art your car and not ask you most would be horrified, but if they did a good job it eh enjoy it and maybe now others will want their car garffit painted too and the guy is now in business.
Graffiti can be fantastic, but if it appears on walls that and trains and buses then it's not art, it's vandalism.
Thanks for sharing this great hub with us, yes their are so many talented people in this world, awesome pictures.
It depends which side of the wall you are on!
Great to watch it from the outside, but an irritant and an expense from the inside
Hello, Prasetio, I agree with Mystique, in that "it is Art, but it should be limited to places that need them. Graffiti painting on Public buildings´ walls is an abuse of the painters."
Good hub; good point of conversation for discussion!
The artistic work is really beautiful! I agree with most, there is a place for it. Would not like to see it everywhere. In places where the neighborhoods are run down, this kind of graffiti art makes you go 'Wow', that someone who has such great talent is stuck in a run down neighborhood, usually in poverty. It would be a great thing if someone who is established took them under their wings (for those who wanted to) and guided them to the cultivation and further development of their innate talents and abilities (it has happened to some). What I like about most graffiti art, is that it usually portrays a profound message about what is going on in the world and the hope for the future. Really good hub!
praseto30. I do not have a problem with art (pics) grafiti like pamela says if done in proper areas.
Like we have some whole walls done and they look beautiful. Also we have bus shelters are well done too.
It is the crap (sorry) but that is what it is scrawled all over everything, loveely brick fences, abusive language etc etc. I cannot tollerate that. When caught they should be made to clean off all the grafiti in a whole street then they may not do it . Some of what you show here is beautiful. the third one done is rubbish in my opinion
I like the art work and admittedly there are some very talented graffiti artists in the world. I would not however appreciate someone spraying graffiti art on my wall at home.
It would be nice if there could be more government funded schemes that would fund young artists, to create a themed art arena in a public area.
Great hub! We have local graffiti artists do a mural on our back wall that faces the alley. It looks great, keeps it colorful, and then people don't put messy tags on it.
The city government tried to get us to paint over it, but we, and the rest of our neighbors and people around the city, said "Graffiti is ART". The mural is still there.
Excellent topic - in Sydney there are designated walls for graffiti artists to use and there is even respect amongst artists about how long a piece of artwork should stay before allowing for something new.
Very interesting Hub. Art as expression always finds a place. And I have seen some completely beautiful graffiti. But the other day coming home from dropping a loved one at the airport, I saw a road sign which had been "tagged" and which was now hard to read. Not beautiful, and perhaps dangerous. So as you say, there are pros and cons to the issue of graffiti. It would be perfect if all those who wish to do art had a viable outlet, rather than to be labled "vandals" due to the drive of self expression. But again, those who deface property such as traffic signs are doing more than expressing themselves. They are causing a situation that may harm others. Art must never cause danger to others! So perhaps there should be a distinction between graffiti art, and graffiti crime. Thank you for a very good Hub. It certainly made me think!
I saw beautiful graffiti in Los Angelos, on concrete walls near the roads. Very interesting, and alot of talent displayed! I loved the color and how open the artwork was! I think graffiti artists need an venue for their work such as urban renewal projects where thay can express their art, and earn some money! Maybe this would also lesson the number of "taggers". Thanks again for this good Hub!
This is a great hub, prasetio. I think when it's done creatively it looks great but when someone spray paints something on your white wall that's kind of nasty
Prasetio, I give this a thumbs up as with all your hubs. It's great art and people with such gifts must express it. I found this to be beautiful and enjoyed it very much. I'm so glad you shed some light on this subject. The city in which I live has such art covered quickly, how bad the artist must feel. Im a softy and LOVE your HUB! Peace :)
I didn't know in your country, there is graffiti. I remember in HK, I never seen that but when I came to the US, there was graffiti here and there. Some are nice and some are not. Thank you for the informative hub!

WILDSTYLES.COM LAUNCHES TO CREATE THE FIRST SOCIAL NETWORK FOR
GRAFFITI ARTISTS – FACEBOOK BOWS DOWN AND PICKS UP PAINTING
Graffiti art can be very beautiful - it would be nice if there were more places where it could be done and enjoyed by everyone without having it show up in the wrong places. Doesn't it feel incredible to just 'find' art when you are out? Thanks for the great article!
graffiti is an artform
and we write to express ourselfs there are writers who can make a 3 dimensional piece that would blow your mind or throw up a piece in which the colors would make u notice the very second u glance at it... we do this because we began living this writer lifestyle and we are hooked if we had a recreational area where we could write i guarentee every one of us would be there on a daily basis
writers love graffiti and most of us make vows to never quit, when i write i feel free...
It is an art and so we must be wary of where we put them. They should have a special place other than just anywhere in the streets. Thanks for sharing another wonderful hub. May it serve as an eye opener to make people realize where to put such a beautiful self expression. Voted up for an awesome hub too! =)
Why do people hate on graffiti tags.. If done well it a beautiful way to sign the art piece!
Graffiti is becoming more main stream and entering the 'official' art world. Some would argue that official status means that it is no longer graffiti. Strange world indeed when you can buy official 'Banksy' prints.
Hi Prasetio,
In Houston where we live, most of the graffiti is gang related and knowing that, it is kind of scary. Not only that...there are ordinances against it on public buildings and if the building owners do not paint over it in an alloted time-frame, they can be fined. So it is a cost to business owners and I am sure they would rather be able to spend their money in better manners...like being able to give their employees raises. Even museums if tagged have to spend money to eradicate it. So overall, I am opposed to it unless it is done in areas where it is okay to do it...and those are few and far between. I agree that some of it can be striking and beautiful. Interesting topic for a hub! Voted as such and tweeted.
Great Hub - I think graffiti art, when organized, is a wonderful way to express the personality of a city. I have seen some terrific examples. Like tattoos, it's all a matter of good taste. Rated up!

My Man Prasetio...
Interesting hub! Yes, I do agree it is Art, but it should be limited to places that need them. Graffiti painting on Public buildings´ walls is an abuse of the painters. AS you said before, Road of the middle!
Thumbs up!
