Updated on December 18, 2009

a little about fruits and vegetables carving

I like performing arts. Like architecture, decoration, interior and exterior design, and another art. Food can be made become a beautiful art. We all know that fruit and vegetables have beautiful color. And those color is not artificial but real from nature. From fruit and vegetables we can create beautiful art. We can find it in the wedding, birthday party, another important events. Like Christmas, valentine day, Halloween. This big event used this art usually held on Hotel.

Kind of this art we can find it as a buffet table decorations. Garnish is like an art show. Because of the beauty of color, shape and physical properties of fruit and vegetables can be made a unique ornament, interesting and have a high art. To make this art need some technique, so the result is more meaningful and implies. Fruit and vegetables carving which applied as a decoration was exist for a long time ago. Now fruit and vegetables carving increased function as a unique table decorations and make the room more beautiful.

I have an information about fruit and vegetables art. This art have a special theme. How if London city made by fruits and vegetables. I think it need a talented artist to make kind of art like this. This art made by Carl Warner and his team. He uses 26 kinds of fruit to create a miniature city of London. He need up to 3 weeks to make London landmark from melon to asparagus.

To make miniature of London need high concentration. Carl Warner and his team have to keep the freshness of fruits and vegetables that are used for the perfection. After glue fruits and vegetables, then they took the pictures which incredibly beautiful.

I am very interesting with their work. It looks detail and accurate. It can be look in the picture above. The Houses of Parliament was made by mixture of asparagus, beans and corn.BIG BEN was made by slices of lemon.

The London Eye was made by green beans. "Gherkin" was made from two types of melons and added the green beans. "St. Paul's Cathedral" tops made of carrots, green squash, pumpkins, and young onions. Famous buildings of Christopher Wren's 17th century transformed through a melon and the columns used young corn. Meanwhile, "Nelson's Column" made from zucchini with light green pumpkin, and a carrot combined with nuts and almonds. "Tower Bridge" using a pear and pineapple. "Tower of London" is displayed using sticks, bread sticks and wheat biscuits.

The conclusion is to create beautiful art doesn't need complicated material. But we can use simple materials that can be found around us. Fruit and vegetables carving can be learned by anyone, including housewives. Just only takes diligence, patience and a little touch of art. Try making a simple carvings. I hope by reading this hub, we can have inspiration to develop a sense of art. For children, they prefer to eat fruits and vegetables by showing those picture.
