Dangerous Things in Daily Life

This time I’ll inform to all of you about something simple, but not all of us knew about this. I want to share useful information, but I don’t want to make us afraid about this things. This is just knowledge. We can learn about many things outside, but I hope from this hub we can learn something useful for our life, especially for health reason. We can control our self in using something. The most important this is we can know everything about we should do and we shouldn’t do that. And then we can use these things wisely. I believe, there is several researches before this information spread to the world. They do this for good purpose and this is for humankind. We can found many things around us, even this is simple things and I believe we use this every day. I heard this many times, “better prevent than healing”. I collect several things around us and we have to be careful with these things. Of course we can use this freely, but better to use or consume this wisely.

There are several researches about plastic, barbeque meat, instant noodle, food packaging, paper, Styrofoam. I thought, we all familiar with this things. I want to share about the dangerous behind these things, if we don’t use this wisely. I don’t want to forbid us to use or consume these things. Even stop to use this at all. This is important to remind us a little about something dangerous behind something we use every day. Like a paper, of course we need this to support our job, especially in the office or other job. Food packaging, we need this to sterilize the food from outside contamination, like bacteria, dust, etc. Barbeque meat, we consume this in the family gathering party or garden party maybe, of course we allowed to eat barbeque. No one forbid us to consume delicious meat, right. Especially if we want add this with various vegetables or fruits. Wow.... it’s so yummy. I thought we love to eat combination between meat, fruit and vegetables barbeque. Sorry if I talk about food, it raises my appetite. I’ll explain everything below. So, please continue to read…….

Maybe some of us often reuse plastic bottles. Actually this is not good habit, especially for health. Actually this happened to my own students. Some of my student brought a bottle of water. This is not a new bottle. This was a bottle from mineral water. They used this bottle again and again. Their parents filled this with new water in the bottle. But after I give some explanations about the dangerous behind reuse plastic bottle, they don’t want to use this again. Now, they bring a new water container. This is 100% safe for their health. Like Tupperware product.

Plastic material (also known as Polyethylene Terephthalate or PET) which can be found in plastic bottle contains a carcinogen substances. This bottle is safe to be used 1-2 times only, if you want to used this any longer, should not be more than a week, and should be placed far away from the direct sun. Repeated washing habits can damage the layer of plastic bottle and the carcinogen substance can enter into the water if we drink from this bottle.

A compound formed when meat was heated in high temperatures, such as barbeque meat (roast meat), will trigger the growth of prostate cancer in mice. This was based on the research team from USA. The results of this study also described in a meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research (American cancer research association) in order to explain the link between eating meat and high-risk prostate cancer. From the number of previous studies, said that cooking meat until charred will cause cancer. The compound according to research results will trigger and accelerate the growth of prostate cancer in the body of mice. This compound called PhIP. But the researchers say that they are still difficult to determine how much PhIP that have consumed people, because it depends on cooking conditions.

In my country (Indonesia) we called this “Satay”. This is similar food like barbeque, the slice of number chicken meat or mutton inserted on bamboo stick. This meat was roasted on fire. Indonesian people usually eat this with peanut sauce. I thought there is similarity between barbeque and satay. But we shouldn’t worry about this. Because I have good solution and I thought we safe to consume barbeque or satay.

Cucumbers are advised to eat after eating barbeque or satay. Because the barbeque contain carcinogens substances (cause cancer) but cucumber actually have anti-carcinogens. So don't forget to eat the cucumber after eating barbeque or satay. But everything excessive is not good for us. Better consume this food wisely.

This is very popular food in among the people in my country. As we knew, the history of noodle was come from China. Now, the people in the world know noodle as one of best Chinese food. And become popular from day by day. To make it simple, we don’t have to go to Chinese food restaurant to buy noodle. We can easily find instant noodle in the supermarket. With various tastes and of course it’s delicious if we can add this with some vegetables or egg. If we creative person and love to cook. We can make a great food with variation recipes by using instant noodle, “easy to cook and easy to eat”. In modern era the people want something simple. That’s why I can found various instant noodle brands in the market.

Even for college student in Indonesia also familiar with instant noodle. For emergency things, if they didn’t have much money to buy food outside. With the average price for only $0.2 they can buy a pack of instant noodle and cook delicious food. But actually the dangerous always haunted them. Why I said so, because from medical information it said “there is a wax that coats the noodles”. That’s why the instant noodles do not stick to each other when it cooked. Consumption of instant noodles every day will increase the possibility of someone infected with cancer. A person who being so busy in his career had no time to cook, so decided to eating instant noodles every day. Finally he had cancer. This is because of the wax covering the noodle. Our bodies need more than two days to clean the wax. So for instant noodle lovers, make sure you have an interval of at least three days after you eat instant noodles, if you're going to consume again.

I have good solution about "the correct way of cooking instant noodles", like:

• Boil the noodles in a pot with water.
• Once the noodles was cooked, take out the noodles, and throw away the water. Why we should do this, because this water contain wax.
  
• Boil another pot of water till boiling
  
• While the water is being cooked, put the seasoning powder, chili pepper and oil on a bowl together with the noodle.
  
• The final step is put boiling water in a bowl.
  
• Delicious instant noodle is ready to be served.
  

Food packaging is part of the daily food. For most people, food packaging or food wrapping just tends to be regarded as a foods protection. It’s depending on the type of packaging material. Like: cartoon, paper, plastic, or Styrofoam. I’ll describe this material below.  I recommend you carefully to pick on food packaging start from now. Packaging on food has the function for health, preservation, convenience, uniformity, promotions, and information. There are so many materials used as food packaging related with packaging in direct contact with food. But don’t worry about that, I thought legitimate company also do research before they sell the product complete with packaging in the market.

We use paper to help our job. We can find the paper around us. Personally, I can’t imagine how many papers was produced every day in the world. If we collect this maybe it reach a mountain. This time, I talk about the paper related with food. Sometimes we can find the paper to wrap the food. Like: hamburger, hotdog or other foods. Some of these papers containing detectable lead exceed specified limits. In the human body, lead entering through the respiratory tract or digestion into the circulatory system and then spread to various other networks, such as: kidney, liver, brain, nervesand bones. Lead poisoning in adults was characterized by three symptoms. Like: pale, pain and paralysis. Poisoning that occurs can be chronic and acute. Hot food and fatty food easily causes lead substance migrate into this food. We can safe to use kind of the paper as food wrapping after pass the quality control. I thought KFC and McDonalds have passes this quality control as the biggest franchise company and we can find this company around the world.

I thought we all familiar with this material. We can easily find Styrofoam as a food container. Styrofoam or polystyrene packaging materials has become one of the most popular choices in the food business. With the reason to prevent leakage, it looks white, clean, Styrofoam is also able to retain heat and cold but still comfortably held, maintaining freshness, low cost, more secure, and lightweight. That’s why many food businesses choose this material. But I heard surprising news and for us who always update news really knew this information very well. Recent research proves that the Styrofoam didn't safe anymore. Food Safety Division of the Government of Japan revealed that Styrofoam in food is very dangerous. This news was released in July 2001. The residues substance inside Styrofoam cause endocrine disrupter (EDC), a disease caused by a disturbance in the endocrinology system and human's reproductive from chemical carcinogens in food.

I hope this hub useful for us and we can learn something behind many things in daily life. No one will hurt or getting sick if we prevent this early. Life must go on. We need something to be achieved in the future, we may have some goal. I hope everything goes well. The most important thing is we all healthy, amen. Because healthy is expensive. Money wasn't everything if we got sick. So, we must use everything we have wisely.
