Rich By Begging, Society phenomenon
68We are facing global economic crisis right now. All the people in the world felt the impact of this crisis. Many company had bankrupt. They could not overcome the financial problems and they should close the company. The victims are the employee because million people lost their job and become unemployment. They are suffering now, difficult to get food and many of them become "homeless". Even the United States as the largest and most powerful country in the world were also felt the impact of this financial crisis.
In the middle of the global economic crisis there is an interesting phenomenon. I don't know, this is kind of job or business. Begging is an option in the middle of the global crisis shocks. I'll write about "begging phenomenon", This doesn't happen in all unemployment due to economic crisis. Just only a
few cases, because it brings a lot of money by begging and become a profitable
business.
I am not agree and support the begging activities. But begging has become a unique phenomenon that occurs in society.
The Richest Beggar in The World
Ken Johnson,52 is the richest beggar in the world. He always start the begging activity by sitting near the Myer shop at Sydney Central Business District. He always doing this routine activity almost 16 hours everyday at George and Market St. With the board beside him he got the money. He get the money between $60 up to $120 everyday. When the lucky day comes he get almost $330. Totally income is around $40,000 every year. This is the biggest annual income from begging activity. This could brake the law that beggar is synonymous with poverty. But we all know that this activity doing by the homeless.

King of Beggar
It looks like a China's movie tittle with "Jet Lie" as an actor. There is a man, he called Mr.To. He live in Surabaya city, Indonesia. He start his career as a beggar and now he is become the king of beggar. He has about 45 employees who is the same profession as a beggar also. He just manage the employee and he get almost $1000 every month. This is a lot of money in my country. My monthly salary in teaching doesn't reach his income. From begging activity he has three house and Honda CR-V car......Wow. Please take a look the picture below.
I have the picture of the beggar who have Mercedes Benz car. He seemed disabled (defect) by sitting on a wheelchair. But actually he is normal person and he's fine. He just seems to pretend to get the money. please see the picture below.
Begging as a society phenomenon. This is become a problem in my country. The government also try to overcome this problem. Jakarta is the capital city of my country has a role to stop the begging activities. Begging is identical with "lazy", because there are many younger beggar. Actually with younger age they should work. What do you think with this case? Do you have an opinion? Please share and give comment.

Wow! Prasetio30 you always come up with the most interesting hubs! It is truly amazing how people can make a "career" (using that term loosely in this sense of the word)out of just about anything.
Interesting hub! I read some ten or twenty years ago about a begger in (I believe) Florida, who went door to door asking for a dollar, but sometimes got much more, in affluent neighborhoods. He claimed to never spend any more than he had to, and after so many years of this had a million dollars. He then wrote a book about his adventure, and after it became public knowledge the area in which he was begging outlawed it. He made out like a bandit first though, if indeed it was true and he wasn't exagerating the amount for his book!
$ 40,000 for annual income ? Wow Pras, it's about 400 million in our money! That's big! I can buy one house a year:) Okay, they may be "rich" but I don't like the beggar mentality especially when they used the fake wheel chair to cheat on people.
I think it's useless if we just wait our government to do something with them, we have to do and think something for them. I think creative industries could absorb some of them like re-cycling industry, reparation services etc. The most important is to get rid of easy and beggar mentality from them. Great hub as always!
Yes, I have read many a times, over the years, about people like that. Over here, in England, they boast of £200 a day. I am sure, most of it is from kind hearted people who know hardship themselves. Thank you for your hub.
Difficult subject. There will be genuine beggars who truly struggle to survive but with these charlatons people are less likely to kindly donate cash.
hi,
begging - an abuse of the society needs rectification.
I consider kids standing outside of supermarkets asking people to support their gymnastics team begging as well. If you need money earn it. Wash a car, bake a cookie, do something instead of just putting your hand out.
It's a shame that people will do this. There are so many that need help and these people take the money that might help them. They are force children to work for them. The entire thing is disgusting.
Prasetio - There is an old saying: "Beggars can't be choosers." Your article would argue with that saying, wouldn't it? Gus
I have witnessed similar in Portugal, a guy begging in the streets everyday, we caught a train to Lisbon and he was on it and was met by a woman at the other end with a Mercedes. Perhaps if people are found to have made their fortune using this means the funds should be confiscated and passed to a worthwhile cause.
This is a very enlightening hub. The world over, this is a phenomenon. What a shame, what began as a genuine need has turned into just another scam. I never give money anymore to people begging, simply because I don't know the truly needy, and that's a shame because there are some truly needy, that can't get the proper help because of these awful people. Very good hub prasetio30.

I am confused how he could enjoy that job.
Some people really don't seem to have an sense of values. I have often wondered if some of these beggars would go home at the end of the day to their fancy homes.
Sad. It's truly sad to hear people have such values. I once read a newspaper article that beggars in the Denver Colorado area earn as much as $50,000 or $60,000 in cash, and don't even pay taxes on it.
This happened to me. Every day on my way home from work there was a beggar on the corner by a street light. During a red light many people would give him money, including myself. A few months later I went to a birthday party at a very nice restaurant and there he was driving a Lexus. Some people just have no shame. Great Hub as usual!
Good hub with great info. Thanks for sharing!
My goodness, you write some Awesome Hubs. You are so right. One day, on my way from work, I was outside the rail station and a man asked me for money saying he lost his purse - He just needed to get home. I gave him some money.
Next day, the same man walks up to me with the same story. I looked at him and said "I gave you some money yesterday". He walked away. Rich, Bad man. lol
Wow! Shocking! I guess we all need to quit our job and start begging, LOL:) Great hub!
I've heard stories about beggars, but nothing as interesting as your hub, phrasetio30. When I was in the U.S. Army years ago there was a guy who used to ask everyone he met for two or three pennies. I'll bet he accumulated a lot of cash over time. I think some beggars enjoy "putting one over" on people.
I knew of this guy up in California who drove a BMW (I think). And every day he would drees up and sit on some Off ramps and beg. He made up to like $600 a day. My question is... Is it wrong to Pan Handle?
There are many forms of begging in this world and a man, a woman or a child at a street corner is just one of them; street beggars are most of the time sad and quite and probably only a small percentage qualify as fraud .
The big fraud is the Political Campaign Begging , Found Rising for whatever cause, Charities Begging. I don’t believe any of those to be dignified begging, in the contrary; it is laud, persistent, annoying and goes on for ever.
Would I rather help an individual who I believe to be poor OR an institution who I know for sure to be rich? Not all begging is created equal!
Yo Bro! I just need a few bucks. You know I've been walking a little funny since my operation. Just a few grand, eh? I just need to check out a sick friend in Rio.
I always find this subject interesting because it seems to bring out the worst in people. We often look at the few abusers and forget about the thousands, perhaps even millions that don't have another choice. I guess it can be easy for people in more suburnanized places to think there is always a way to make money, but when the enviroment around you doesn't have any, and the means of living you were accustomed to having is taken from you by your government and former employers (a.k.a - jobs sent overseas), the options do dwindle. How many cookie makers and car washers can one neighborhood have? The whole "just do something to earn your money" can be a foolish argument. Anyone who takes some time to read Native American studies will see what happened to them after the "white-imperialist" culture came in and stole and destroyed their way of life. Many depended on begging and subsidies from the government because the government had no plan for them once they took their livilhood away. When you suddenly close a factory and put 1000 people in the same city out of work, you put a desperation into that community. It seems that many just don't grasp that phenomenon and the hopeless it brings. Let's not let the few liars and decievers blind us to the needy. Peace
I wouldn't be so quick to call homeless people liars and deceivers - even the examples above (well...the "homeless boss", maybe, but I definitely don't think Ken is a liar or deceiver). Do you personally know Ken, by the way? What kind of homeless man would make that much money and still live outside Myer while people hurl abuse at him, for about 9 years? There are other reasons as to why he's homeless, and no, he has no drug addiction or secret mansion on the side that he slips off to at 4am.
Keep in mind why they're there. It's not always about a lack of work. Remember in many countries they can't work unless they have an address, and nobody will give them accommodation without regular work.
There's also a massive correlation between mental illness and homelessness, some studies finding it to be as high as 60%. If governments want to do anything about homelessness, they MUST address the issue of mental health.
