How to Make Your Kids Love Sports
76Sport is part of life. This is just not for a lifestyle, but we should do this for our self. Preventing is much better than healing, right. This isn’t only a quote, but we must to apply this in our life. We should practice this to get healthy life. We need family support, it is much better if we can do this with other family members. This time we talk about kids. How to teach children love with sport and they want to do this with their heart. If we talk about sport, if may remember with obesity. Obesity is an international problem now. There are many kids outside with obesity problem. That’s why sport has a big role to keep their weight in good proportion.
For children under five ages, at least they should be advised to exercise for 3 hours. But encourage toddlers to exercise is not easy. Now the question is what kind of sport that must be followed and how to make them love sports? There are some easy tips to make your child want to exercise, or at least moving.
1. Invite them walking
Try to always invite your child to walk. Small children are usually able to walk for 20 to 30 minutes in a moderate speed. If you're tired, let them rest. Give them motivation with short storytelling or we can talk about nature. We can apply this activity around the house or during recreation in outdoor, like camping. Walking is a very cheap sport, right! So, we don’t need a big cost to do this activity with kids.
2. Giving small example
Ask children to do activities certainly will not work if our self are lazy. Each parent must give an example by doing various activities that make children driven to more active. They love to imitate and if they seen the good sample every day, they may want to do what parents do.
3. Invite them joining sport clubs
Studies shown that children aged between 7-10 years more fun doing sports activities if his friend joined them. Take your child to a place like a sport club. Such as: ballet, swimming, football,or maybe tennis. In addition to making the child fit, this activity can also help sharpen their skills and talents. But we should remember that never force a child to participate in activities that he does not like. Hopefully they become their idol, like: if they love football, they may become like a David Beckham.
4. Use house yard
House yard can be the most suitable place to play while exercising. Take a trampoline or make a basketball ring next to your house so the kids can play while exercising. Kids also love running around the yard, right. But how to combine this with fun games which contain walk and run activities. It should be more fun and healthy, of course.
5. Change the habit of passive watching TV to be more active
Television is not always become an enemy for children, because they still need television as an entertainment device in their leisure time. Tricks you need to do is watch TV to become more active like putting a small trampoline in front of television, or put a collection of DVDs containing the exercise. We can also invite them with simple aerobic. They can follow our movements from behind. Don’t push them with difficult movements.

You are so right about children needing exercise and sports is a great way to do it. Not only does it help keep them healthy and create good lifestyle choice for the future, it helps them learn cooperation with others, good sportsmanship, following directions, doing something for the good of the group not just themselves, taking turns, and a host of social skills. Great hub!! We all need more activity in our lives. My family and I have been excercising at least twice per week (we turn on the music and go, lol!!!) The new games like Wii and the dancing and other sports videos are good for exercising using the tv and are fun also. I love Wii tennis!!! v/r

When I was young sports mostly meant team sports baseball,football and basketball.Now there are many choices.For those who don't like one sport can choose another.Equipment to protect eyes etc. are also more available.
I remember taking a long bike ride with my son when he was about twelve.When we got back I could hardly walk,my legs felt like rubber. The boy went to go ride with his friends.

Hi Pras, as usual a helpful hub that is packed with common sense. The obesity epidemic gets worse by the day with people's diets the main culprit, coupled with sedentary lives. My two daughters used to be competitive swimmers. It was great to start with and they did learn some terrific things about disipline, but it became too much. My older daughter was doing nine sessions per week. Four nights and five early morning starts where we had to get up at 4-20 AM. She was too tired to do her school work and decided to quit at 14 to concentrate on her studies. She tried other swimming clubs, wanting to do four or five sessions per week, but she was a national level swimmer and they wouldn't accomodate her wishes. Keep up the good work my healthy friend. Tomorrow night i will be attempting to win my tenth consecutive runners up indoor soccer medal. A not too enviable record. Cheers

Before television and the internet, our children didn't have to be urged to exercise outside. Now they spend more time inside watching sports as spectators instead of participating themselves.

Good tips. I definitely agree that being a good example is important. My parents played baseball, basketball and badmiton with us often. We frequently spent time hiking together and swimming too. If a parent spends all of their time watching TV or watching other people play sports, they are setting a poor example.
Totally agree with #2. Kids' attitudes towards exercising usually stem from how they see their parents or adults in their family approach it. It's hard to convince our kids that sports are fun and good for them if we sit on our couch watching TV all day.

extremely important hub you've written here. I think many American kids would rather play sports on a video game than acutally play them. My daughter is almost 4 and I have no problem keeping her active. She will be in dance class and horseback riding this autumn. i was in sports as a kid and loved it!
I really like this hub. I would much rather be outdoors with the grandkids than watching them get restless indoors. The added benefit of course is better health! Voting useful and awesome.
